A century or two ago – the time I’m blogging about – Christmas celebrations began on the 24th or 25th of December. The feast went on until Twelfth Night (January 6th).
Christmas decorations from my childhood
So I’ll be blogging more about Christmas past over the next few days. I just haven’t felt like it recently because it’s the first without my beloved mother, who held all the family traditions.
So in the meantime, here are some tree decorations which are almost as old as I am – perhaps older. They seem to have been on her tree forever.
And it will be a good Christmas – just different.
So I wish you a wonderful day, with family or friends, and many happy memories to keep for ever.

A Rebel Hand 
I’m way behind with reading blogs, Frances, so sorry I haven’t seen this before. My first without my Mum was heartbreaking… i did my best to ” keep it together” for my children and the rest of the family, but it was my children who came to me and said that it was ok to be both sad and happy, and it is.. Sad for what we’ve lost, but happy for what we’ve had…Since then, each Christmas Eve, and sometimes on special anniversaries, I light a blue candle in memory of those who have passed.
The decorations are beautiful and great to have as a reminder of years gone by.

Thankyou Frances and boomeranging those Christmas wishes right back to you and sending extra special virtual hugs for this first Christmas without your beloved mum. Both my parents died in the same year, and that first Christmas as an “orphan” was very challenging. May your heart be lifted and you feel your mother’s love cascading over you.
Those Christmas decorations are so beautiful, especially the purple white and green ones. Maybe my eye is drawn to these becaused they’re the “women’s colours”… initially worn by the suffragettes, I believe.
